More Magickal How-to's

The winter season here in upstate New York has been mild. Just this past week we had our first real snowfall and it didn't amount to much. Still it was wonderful to see the earth and trees covered in winter. I had the pleasure of being able to go outside and be in the stillness of the snowfall. Looking up at the clear dark sky and seeing the stars...living away from the glare of city lights has been wonderful.

I decided to send out an issue of the newsletter with some information on wintertime magick and the uses of snow. Also, I included a few tidbits going into spring as Imbolc has just passed and the weather will once again be changing.

I hope everyone had a wonderful and prosperous holiday season! I know you all are wondering when the shop will be re-launched. The truth is I am in no hurry to re-launch it right now. I do have a lot in the cauldron brewing...in time I will be re-launching a brand new site with interesting and unique products.

In the meantime enjoy the season and this issue of the newsletter. Also feel free to drop me a note and let me know what types of items/products/services you are interested in seeing at TheMoonlitSea. net.

Winter teaches us about detachment, numbness. But it’s a way to get through.
From winter we learn silence and acceptance and the stillness thickens.

Winter Magick ~ Snow Spells
Collecting snow for magickal purposes is best done during a snowfall. In a pinch it also can be collected from the ground in an area that hasn't been disturbed.

Snow can be used in Water Magick in freezing spells or in spells for transformation. Collect snow and keep it frozen in a freezer to use in freezing spells when needed or let the snow melt down to water for transformation spells (when you need to change something into another form).

Winter Transformation Spell

The dark winter months are a time to go within and take stock of the past year and mediate on the coming year.

A great way to break old habits, banish bad behaviors, etc is to write it on a piece of torn-off brown paper bag. Fold it 3 times away from you and place it in a big bowl of snow.

Once the snow has melted down and changed so has your habit. Dispose of the water and paper by throwing westward during the setting sun.

Here is another spell to aide in transforming old habits that no longer serve us. This spell isn't just for winter time, it came be done at anytime you feel the need, as long as you have saved collected melted snow.

1 Yellow taper candle
1 Black taper candle
1 White taper candle
M
elted snow in a white or clear bowl (glass)
1 Pieces of brown paperbag

Place the white candle on the right side of the bowl and the white candle on the left side.

On the sheet of brown paper write the things you are wanting to change in your life. This could be a habit like smoking or a behavior like anger.

Write it in detail and if possible include a recent event. This is the thing you are banishing.

On the back of the sheet of brown paper write the things you are replacing. For example if you are trying to quit smoking you are replacing this bad habit with good health and better lungs. If you are getting rid of anger you are replacing it with love and happiness. Use whatever works for you and be as detailed as you like. This is the thing that you are calling into your life.

Fold the paper 3 times so that the invoking side is seen and the banishing side is inside. Now place the paper into the water in the bowl and say "as this water was once another form, this *state the habit or behavior* is now *state what you are replacing it with*" or something to that effect.

Light the white candle and then the black candle. Once they have burned out take the remains and place them in the water with the paper. Now take the bowl outside and dig a hole in the ground preferably away from your house. Pour the water, paper and candle remains in the hole burying the spell. Cover the hole up again.

When that is done, go back inside and light the yellow taper concentrating on your new transformation.

These spells are best done during the Waning Moon and/or on a Saturday.

A Love Mojo
The month of February is host to many things...Black History Month, Imbolc , Feast Day of Oya, Candlemas, Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day, Mardi Gras, Super Bowl Sunday, International Mother Language Day just to name a few. Probably the most famous day associated with February (depending on who you talk to) is Valentines Day...the day to celebrate love with your loved ones.

Since love is a huge topic and a big request for spellwork here is a recipe for a Love Mojo bag. This bag will aid in bringing more love into your life.

Lavender
Rose
Calamus Root
Cinnamon
1 Lodestone
Magnetic sand
A peice of torn-off brown paper bag
A piece of red cloth (flannel, felt, silk, cotton...whichever you choose)
A piece of red string to tie the sack

On the piece of paper list the things you are looking for in a loving relationship. Now here is the hard part, write your full name in one continuous circle around the list of things you are looking for in a loving relationship. Make sure there are no breaks in the name circle. If you mess up start again. Once you have accomplished this fold the piece of paper toward you 3 times and place it along with the other ingredients on the red cloth. Gather the cloth into a sack, wrap the string around the sack and tie it off.

Carry the mojo with you or keep it under your mattress to bring more love into your life. To recharge the mojo at anytime you need to, annoint the sack with Attraction and Love oils.

This mojo is best created on Friday and/or during a Full Moon.

Spring Egg Divination
Moving into March and looking forward to Spring Equinox.

I love decorating eggs. I also love divination. So here is a way to incorporate both.

The night before the Equinox on a piece of paper write 4 things you would like to implement into your life this Spring. Now here's the fun part. Decorate your eggs (boil them first...you know the old fashioned way of egg decorating that is your favorite). Choose an egg to use for this divination, decorate it however you want but also include 4 symbols (or words if they fit) that represent the 4 things you wrote on the piece of paper. Have fun with this...spring is here!

Early the next morning just after the sun has come up go outside find a slope or a small hill and gently roll your egg down the hill. Watch to see where it stops and then go get your reading.

What symbol is showing? What does this mean to you? What are you manifesting this Spring? Give thanks to the egg however you feel is best. You can eat it, offer it to a friend or loved one, bury it, leave it as an offering to the earth...whatever makes sense to you.

Blessed Be!

Countless blessings this season will bring
as my soul delights in the essence of Spring.
